Antenna Engineer

ATB is changing the face of Telecommunication communications by launching a constellation of telecommunication nanosatellites! With the recent success of our Series A funding, a handful of early customers, and our first two satellites in orbit, ATB is currently doubling in size!

We invest heavily to deliver the best products to our customers, and so we’re on the hunt for a top-tier Antenna Engineer.

Your primary responsibility will be on antenna design, build and test for both our Telecommunication communications payloads as well as ground-based user terminals. This includes passive, active and phased array antennas. Your secondary responsibility will be assisting the team in RF frontend and radio design, build and test.

We are looking for exceptional candidates with the below experience:

Position Responsibilities

Take spacecraft and ground terminal antennas from conception through to design, manufacturing, test, and on-orbit operations

Design antenna structures and both passive and active antenna feed networks

Perform schematic capture, layout and DFM of antenna/RF PCBs

Support the manufacturing and procurement of antennas through regular interaction with vendors and suppliers

Design and conduct antenna and RF system performance and qualification testing both on- and off-site

Work with other engineering disciplines such as mechanical and systems engineers to integrate antennas into the overall spacecraft or ground terminal

In addition to above, support similar activities for RF frontends and radios

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent

1+ years experience professionally designing antennas

2+ years experience with antenna simulation tools (CST, HFSS, EMPro etc.) and RF circuit simulation tools (ADS, Microwave Office, etc.)

Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium, Cadence etc.)

Experience with scientific programming languages (i.e. Python, Matlab etc.)

Experience with antenna/RF measurements using standard RF test equipment: spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, near- and far-field systems

Experience soldering and reworking PCBs

Proficient in basic antenna and RF circuits concepts such as: directivity, gain, polarization, efficiency, axial ratio, matching, beamforming, bandwidth, impedance matching, smith chart, network analysis, active and passive microwave components and systems (mixers, amplifiers, transistors at RF frequencies) and their figures of merit (P1dB, Psat, IIP3, noise figure, etc.), RF filter design

Ability to work long hours in a demanding, fast-paced environment

Bonus Points

Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on antenna or RF engineering

Experience with phased array antennas and their calibration

Experience designing, building and testing RF frontends and/or radios

Experience designing, building and testing RF devices for high-volume markets

Experience designing electrical hardware for space environments

Experience with advanced RF or communication systems testing

Experience with relevant hobbies or University design teams
