Lead Telecommunication AIT Engineer
Engineering - Toronto, Ontario
Engineering - Toronto, Ontario
ATB is changing the face of Telecommunication communications by launching a constellation of telecommunication nanosatellites! With the recent success of our Series A funding, a handful of early customers, and our first two satellites in orbit, ATB is currently doubling in size!
We invest heavily to deliver the best products to our customers through an ever-growing number of services as we build to the internet in space, and so we’re on the hunt for a top-tier Lead Telecommunication Systems Engineer (AIT). In this role you will lead the team in the integration, testing, and verification of our constellation; improving and enhancing our orbital assets and ensuring the reliability in their build.
In this role, you will work with the growing team developing and building ATB’s spacecraft and payloads. You will build upon existing designs using data-analysis and model-based approaches to produce improvements and to each generation of ATB spacecraft. As a team lead, you will be responsible for driving the direction of the ATB Telecommunication Technology integration, test and verification process. On top of this, your team is responsible for the adequate design and interface management of new and required subsystems. Your team is responsible for the characterization and verification of all flight hardware, so your responsibilities will include supporting Assembly, Integration, and test (AIT) of spacecraft and subsystems, design and characterization of subsystems and subsystem/spacecraft and their interfaces, and aiding in the guidance of spacecraft technical development through system models. As an internal customer, you will work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure that spacecraft hardware is properly accepted and integrated to assure performance. You will work with manufacturing and third-party suppliers to ensure the built product meets the requirements and implement require improvements, design changes, and fix non-conformance reports. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to see the full life cycle of technology; from concept to orbit deployment and eventual disposal.
The candidate’s initial responsibilities will be managing the team through critical development, AIT and sub-system/team interfacing, but will evolve aligned with each candidates’ strengths and interest. The candidate and their team will also be responsible for supporting the spacecraft operations team in critical phases. Many opportunities will exist to work together with the design teams to create and conduct analysis or to produce spacecraft/ground system designs/design improvements/software. Previous design and AIT experience with small Telecommunication systems will make a candidate stand out.
